Tszyu Eases Past Nurja, Wants Spence Next

Tim Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) secured a comfortable unanimous decision victory over Denis Nurja in their junior middleweight clash, as he eyes Errol Spence Jr. next.

Tszyu’s performance was reflected in a “shutout” on the official scorecards: 100–88, 100–88, and 100–88. Tszyu’s jab was the story of the early rounds. He used the lead hand to pierce Nurja’s high-guard and prevent him from finding any rhythm. By the third, Tszyu was comfortably sitting in the pocket, landing combinations.

Tszyu timed a straight right hand that sent Nurja crashing to the canvas in the fourth. Desperate to survive, Nurja was deducted a point in the seventh round for excessive holding. Sensing his opponent was in “survival mode,” Tszyu shifted his attack to the body, as he coasted to victory. Tszyu then turned his attention to Spence: “You know what they say: Catch the big fish. Let’s go fishing. Look, I feel like I’m up for it, man. I feel like I’m up for it.”
