Tszyu Vs. Murtazaliev IBF Title Clash Confirmed For October 19
Tim Tszyu will box IBF Junior Middleweight Champion Bakhram Murtazaliev on October 19 from the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.
It will be Tszyu’s first fight since losing his WBO belt to Sebastian Fundora. Tszyu began the fight well, but things changed once he suffered an accidental cut over his hairline. His team did not stop the fight, as Tszyu continued until the final bell. However, the Australian revealed his vision was compromised due to the excessive bleeding. He was then on course to face Vergil Ortiz Jr. on August 3. Tszyu pulled out after the cut had not healed.
Now, he has the chance to become a two-time world champion. Murtazaliev won the title after beating Jack Cullen in his last fight via an 11th-round stoppage. That took his record to 22-0, with 16 knockouts. The winner knows there are big fights on the horizon, with possible unification bouts against Terence Crawford (WBA Champion) and Fundora (WBC and WBO Champ).
