Tim Tszyu is targeting fights with both Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford at 154 pounds.
The admission comes following the WBO’s ruling that Tszyu will become the WBO champion at 154 after Jermell Charlo’s fight with Canelo Alvarez at 168 lbs.
The Australian had been waiting in his mandatory position for over a year, but an attempt to get a fight with Charlo failed.
A broken left hand forced Charlo to pull out of their fight in January. Although Charlo did make a recovery, the American chose to face Canelo instead.
But now that Tszyu will get a belt, it has opened up more doors. Crawford has been named as the super-WBO-champion at welterweight.
This would make Crawford a mandatory for Tszyu if he moved up to 154. However, there is also the issue of the Spence rematch as the ‘Truth’ expressed his intention to have it at 154, something which Crawford did not rule out.
But even with a rematch, Tszyu was willing to face both in the aftermath.
“Yeah, for sure. Anyone can get it. I’m the man now at 154. [Jermell] Charlos gone up. We get to fight for the belts and show who the true boogeyman of the division really is. No, if he [Spence] fights me and loses, it’s finished. So I think Spence will fight Crawford again. I think they will move up to 154, and then hopefully, we can have a cracking fight sometime mid-next year,” Tszyu said
