‘TUF’ Episode 9 Results: Austin Hubbard Beats Roosevelt Roberts In A Split Decision

‘The Ultimate Fighter’ returned for another episode with the first of the semi-finals taking place.

Austin Hubbard secured his place in the finals with a win over fellow Team Chandler teammate Roosevelt Roberts via a split decision.

As Chandler watched on from the sidelines, it was clear that the MMA star was trying to remain neutral.

“[It] gets a little bit tricky when you’ve got four guys on your team fighting each other. During those two fights, I’m going to be on the outside.

“I’m going have one of my coaches for one guy, one of my coaches for the other guy, basically just giving them water and answering any questions if they have any questions or concerns, any problems. … We’re really going to stay out of this as much as possible,” Chandler

Before the bout could begin, there was some early drama. Roberts had to cut his hair in order to make the lightweight limit. But once that was done, it was fight time.

With that being said, the bout was a tight affair. It was a slow start to the fight, as both fighters were reluctant to set a fast pace.

Hubbard attempted to close the distance, while Roberts looked to counter his opponent as he came in.

The first round was tight, but the second went in favor of Hubbard. The former managed to get a takedown as his ground-and-pound strikes put the pressure on Roberts.

In a reverse fashion, however, Roberts secured a takedown in the third as the final bell went with little to separate the two.

Victory puts Hubbard in line for a UFC contract provided he beats the winner of Jason Knight vs. Kurt Holobaugh

So, will Hubbard secure the contract? Time will tell.
