Turki Alalshikh Wants Davis Vs. Haney In 2024 – ‘Al Haymon, Let’s Do The Job’

Turki Alalshikh wants Gervonta Davis vs Devin Haney to occur in Saudi Arabia in 2024.

Speculation over a fight recently began after Haney became the WBC Junior Welterweight Champion with a win over Regis Prograis. There were several sticking points, though, particularly over who was the A-side. Davis’ last fight with Ryan Garcia sold over 1.2 million PPVs, making it the highest-grossing fight of 2023. It also made a gate of over $20 million. Haney’s fight with Prograis sold out, but the PPV numbers allegedly were 50,000.

There were also issues with the weight. Davis has only fought once at 140, beating Mario Barrios. But that included a rehydration clause, something which Haney has dismissed. For the Prograis fight, Haney rehydrated to 165 pounds after weighing in at 140. That was another obstacle, as the fight never got made. Now, Alalshikh wants to make one of the biggest fights in boxing.

“I want him [Gervonta Davis], and I send a message now to Al Haymon – let’s do the job, brother. I want to see Haney in my country. I will try to do it in 2024,” Turki Alalshikh said

The Kingdom has a stacked 2024 already, with Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou coming up. A Davis-Haney fight is possible, given the Saudi’s ability to pay fighters directly what they want regardless of purse splits. That has gotten boxing fans looking forward to a huge fight.
