Tyron Woodley Denies Rumors Of UFC Release
Tyron Woodley has put a halt to recent rumors of his UFC release.
Woodley has seen better days inside the Octagon. “The Chosen One” went from being a UFC Welterweight Champion, going 6-0-1 in his last seven outings, to losing three bouts in a row. He hasn’t earned a win since September 2018.
A screenshot allegedly of Woodley’s Snapchat account surfaced. The post simply read “cut,” leading many to believe that Woodley was released by the UFC.
The former 170-pound titleholder took to his Instagram account to respond to the rumor.
“This is cap [a lie]. I never posted this. I never reported this and I would never have my phone on a 24h clock.”
Woodley also put the following in his caption.
“All news ain’t real news. You reporters got my math. Hit my line if there is ever a discrepancy. Last comment on this.”
Woodley’s recent string of losses has come against Colby Covington, Gilbert Burns, and current UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman. At the age of 38, many are left to wonder just how much Woodley has left in the tank. “The Chosen One’s” coach told MMA Fighting that Woodley has been working on getting his motivation back for 2021. Time will tell if he can return to elite status.
