Tyson Fury Explains Why US Fans Prefer Deontay Wilder Trilogy Over Joshua Fight

Two-time world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has an interesting take on why boxing fanatics in the US would prefer to watch him fight Deontay Wilder for the third time instead of sharing the ring with Anthony Joshua. The Gypsy King believes that Joshua’s loss to Andy Ruiz Junior in 2019 took away his aura. The fight that took place in New York was the first time AJ suffered a loss in his pro career.

Fury feels that this is why the eyes of every boxing fan will be on him and Wilder when they enter the ring on July 24 in Las Vegas.   Speaking about Wilder, Fury was well aware that he cannot underestimate his opponent. “He’s got nothing to lose and everything to gain. Until I get through Deontay Wilder, I have no interest in Anthony Joshua. If that fight was going to happen, it would have happened,” the champ remarked.

The Gypsy King and Joshua were earlier preparing for a two-fight deal with each other, but the agreement went south when Wilder won his appeal for another rematch.

An independent arbitrator in Saudi Arabia ruled that Fury should defend his title against Wilder before taking on any other boxer. Hence, Fury had to step down from the talks and this irked AJ’s camp.  AJ took his frustration out on social media, where he claimed that Fury was unprofessional and irresponsible during the whole process.
