Tyson Fury Likely To Fight In March 2022 In UK
WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) will enter the ring in March 2022, according to Top Rank boss Bob Arum.
Speaking to Blue Blood Sports TV, Fury’s promoter said that the Gypsy King will either face Dillian Whyte or Joe Joyce in his next fight that is likely to be held in the UK.
“Dillian Whyte is not the mandatory, and that’s what the WBC hasn’t done,” Arum said. “Dillian Whyte has an obligation to fight Wallin, and we’ll see, but again, in March, I’d like Tyson Fury to fight in the UK, and I would think among the opponents would be Dillian Whyte or maybe this big English guy, Joe Joyce.”
WBC had earlier announced that Fury will have to take on the interim champion in case he couldn’t come to terms for a unification fight against Anthony Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk.
Usyk and Joshua will be preparing for their rematch with IBF/WBA/WBO titles on the line around the same time as Fury’s title fight. Arum feels like AJ doesn’t have what it takes to beat the Ukrainian star.
He feels like Usyk has got his number and will beat the Brit in the rematch as well.
As for the WBC champ, he just retained his heavyweight title against former champion Deontay Wilder on October 9.
