Tyson Fury Predicts Canelo vs. Billy Joe Saunders
Tyson Fury has given his prediction for Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders.
On May 8, Canelo and Saunders will collide in a super-middleweight title fight. Canelo will be putting his WBA (Super), WBC, and The Ring Titles up for grabs. Saunders will be defending the WBO gold.
During an interview with Behind The Gloves, Fury offered a prediction for Canelo vs. Saunders (h/t Boxing News 24).
“Anyway, it’s [Canelo vs. Saunders] is a top fight at middleweight or super middleweight. I think Billy Joe gives him a boxing lesson. That’s what I’m here to see. That’s what I think will happen.
“I think everyone raves on about Canelo about how good he is and how he’s such a great guy and whatever, but I just think every time Billy Joe steps into the pressure cooker, he delivers much like myself.
“That’s what we’re [Saunders] up against here. We’re up against a good fighter in Canelo, who is physically strong and mature, big for the weight, and who likes to hold his feet and fire good, hard punches and has good head movement.
“But Billy Joe is a master boxer, slick, a southpaw with good footwork and good ring IQ, and unbeaten since he was 11-years-old. He’s now however old he is; he’s 31.
“There’s a reason why he hasn’t been beaten since he was 11 or however old he was. He got beat in the Olympics, sorry. He was 17. Canelo has tasted defeat, and we know he can be out-boxed because we saw it.”
