Tyson Fury Recruits Mike Tyson For Joshua Call-Out

Tyson Fury (36-2-1, 25 KOs) recruited the boxing icon he is named after, Mike Tyson (50-7, 44KO), for his latest call-out of Anthony Joshua (30-4, 27 KOs).

“Sign the contract, big boy,” Fury said in a message to Joshua, channeling the words “Iron” Mike used himself when responding, unfazed, to Bob Sapp, following a K-1 event in August, 2003. Mike Tyson previously said a fight against Sapp was discussed, but it never materialized.

Joshua had a signed agreement to fight Fury, albeit one that specified the event take place in England. Organizers for the fight however, want to move IT to the U.S., specifically to Madison Square Garden. Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, wants to improve the terms of the deal if they accommodate the change in location, citing the tax burden of competing in New York.

Both fighters have since put a ticking clock on the negotiations, with Fury’s UK promoter Frank Warren saying Fury will be fighting in November regardless of whether it’s against Joshua or an alternative opponent. Fury vs. Joshua was reportedly being targeted for November 20, but with the continued delays in the fight announcement, that date could very well be pushed back.
