Tyson Fury Remains Pessimistic About The Joshua And Usyk Fights – ‘I’ve Tried’

Tyson Fury has not gotten his hopes up of having a fight with Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk

The WBC heavyweight champion is currently training ahead of his crossover fight with Francis Ngannou on October 28th, 2023, following his win over Derek Chisora in his last fight.

The news of the bout followed after fights with Joshua and Usyk failed to materialize. Fury’s team had offered Joshua a 60-40 purse split prior to the Chisora fight.

However, Joshua’s team were adamant that the deadlines were not realistic to get the fight over the line. In addition, a further offer on the same terms was made for a fight in September.

And yet, Joshua’s team ended up facing Robert Helenius on August 12th, 2023, to prepare for a potential fight with Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia.

In contrast, talks with Usyk broke down even though the unified heavyweight champion had agreed to take a 70-30 split. As a result, the ‘Gypsy King’ is not optimistic about getting those fights made.

“We don’t really know the reasons why Usyk didn’t take the fight in April. I’m sure he’s got his reasons…In this last year, I’ve tried two or three times. It’s always not happened for whatever reason.

“I’m not optimistic. During the negotiations of this year, I was very optimistic. But there was a lot more stuff going on. After that, I was like, ‘It’s not happening,” Fury said
