WBC heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury (32-1, 23 KOs) expects that the boxing match with Francis Ngannou will take place at the Wembley Stadium.
The 33-year-old said he retired from professional boxing after defeating Dillian Whyte earlier in April. However, just a few minutes after his retirement life began, the promotion of the fight with Ngannou began – the UFC heavyweight champion appeared in the ring beside Fury.
The duo has been linked with a potential crossover bout for months.
The Cameroonian fighter has been recovering from a knee injury and wants to return to action as soon as possible. It is likely that Ngannou will return to action in December, although he believes that a return next year would be better.
“Thought you wanted some smoke [Francis Ngannou],” Fury tweeted. “Let’s have a proper fight! Wembley Stadium 2022.”
“Don’t you dare think that I take my eyes out of you,” Ngannou said. “You’re still my priority! I’m coming for all the smoke. 2023.”
“Bring it on big boy,” Fury replied. “You wouldn’t last a round me muscles [Francis Ngannou].”
However, the big talking point could be the contract situation surrounding Ngannou.
The Cameroonian has been demanding an improvement on his current UFC deal and wanted the Fury fight to be part of that contract. If this fight becomes official, it could be one of the greatest crossover fights in the history of boxing.
