UFC 215: Attendance, Gate, Bonuses

Despite losing its scheduled main event about 48 hours before the card’s start, UFC 215 still came away well when it came to figures at the gate.

UFC 215 took place at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The arena was sold out, as 16,232 fans came out for the event, generating a gate of $2.03 million U.S. dollars.

According to UFC Executive David Shaw, while refunds had to be issued due to the cancellation of the original main event — Demetrious Johnson vs. Ray Borg for the UFC Flyweight Championship — late walk-up sales more than made up for the money lost due to refunds.

Fight of the Night honors went to the opening bout of the pay-per-view portion of the card — Gilbert Melendez vs. Jeremy Stephens. Despite a leg injury to Melendez early on, both fighters produced an exciting clash that saw Stephens get the win via unanimous decision.

Performances bonuses were awarded to Rafael dos Anjos and Henry Cejudo. Dos Anjos came away with a first-round submission victory over Neil Magny in the co-main event of the evening. The bout before that saw Cejudo put away Wilson Reis with an impressive second-round KO.
