UFC 217 Surpasses 800K Buys
Featuring one of the best cards in company history, including three title changes inside Madison Square Garden, UFC 217 netted good returns on Pay Per View.
The early numbers from the event show that UFC’s return to New York City pulled in 875,000 PPV buys in North America alone.
UFC President Dana White claimed that UFC 217 would break one million pay per view buys, and White may be on target with that number as the international pay per view and online sales have yet to be released, and may get the event over that one million target,
Despite his lengthy layoff, St-Pierre’s main event clash with Michael Bisping, in which GSP defeated “The Count” via submission to claim the UFC middleweight championship, produced the best PPV numbers of the year thus far, beating out Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier 2 at UFC 214 (860,000).
