UFC 223 Medical Suspensions
The New York State Athletic Commission has released the list of 11 fighters, headlined by Al Iaquinta, who received medical suspensions following UFC 223.
Iaquinta will be forced to sit out for 60 days following his unanimous decision loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event for the UFC lightweight championship per the Commission to MMA Fighting.
10 other fighters received extended medical suspensions, including Rose Nanajunas and Joanna Jedrzejczyk who faced off in the evening’s semi-main event for the women’s strawweight title
The 11 other fighters who received similar extended medical suspensions were: Kyle Bochniak (60 days), Zabit Magomesharipov (45 days), Joe Lauzon (45 days), Rose Namajunas (30 days), Joanna Jedrzejczyk (30 days), Renato Moicano (30 days), Calvin Kattar (30 days), Ashlee Evans-Smith (30 days), Devin Clark (30 days), and Olivier Aubin-Mercier (14 days). The remaining seven fighters on the card received precautionary seven-day medical suspensions.
UFC 223 took place April 7 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The night’s main card aired live on pay-per-view.
