UFC 234 Gets Less Than 200K Buys

While the main event change for UFC 234 got many people in the MMA community talking, it did not have nearly as many people pushing the buy button on February 9th.

Early estimates reported by MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer have the Melbourne, Australia card headlined by Israel Adesanya’s unanimous decision win over Anderson Silva set at 175,000 buys.

Hours before the card was set to air on Pay-Per-View, it was announced that original headliner and UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker suffered a hernia and a later reported collapsed bowel, forcing him to undergo emergency surgery, cancelling his fight against Kelvin Gastelum.

That number comes as a sharp drop of the 700,000 buys from their last not-cancelled Pay-Per-View UFC 232, where Jon Jones would regain the UFC light heavyweight title in a stoppage victory over Alexander Gustafsson.
