UFC 235 Estimated At More Than 500,000 Buys
Jon Jones’ UFC light heavyweight title defense at UFC 235 resulted in a very solid pay-per-view buyrate.
According to MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer, UFC 235 is being estimated at doing between 520,000 and 650,000 buys, which is considered to be well above expectations. The main event of UFC 235 saw Jones successfully retain his UFC title against Anthony Smith with a unanimous decision victory.
Regardless of where the final buyrate falls under that range, it would be the lowest buyrate for a UFC PPV card headlined by Jones since he defeated Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197 in 2016. Among the two UFC pay-per-view cards that took place in 2019, UFC 235 appears set to be the much more successful one in terms of buyrate. UFC 233 was supposed to take place in January, but that card was canceled.
Other notable results on UFC 235 included Kamaru Usman dominating Tyron Woodley to win the UFC welterweight title. Ben Askren, Pedro Munhoz and Weili Zhang also picked up wins on the main card as well.
