UFC 236 Attendance, Gate, Bonuses

No performance bonuses were handed out, but two Fights of the Night were named for UFC 236, which took place on April 13 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

Both interim title fight headliners — featherweight champion Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier for the interim lightweight title, and Kelvin Gastelum vs. Israel Adesanya for the interim middleweight title — were given Fight of the Night honors. All four men won $50,000 bonuses.

Both fights were widely praised as instant classics by both UFC President Dana White and across the MMA community in the aftermath of the pay-per-view event. The interim middleweight title bout even has been hailed as a potential Fight of the Year candidate.

Poirier managed to take Holloway’s best shots and power through fatigue, while also rocking the featherweight champ on several occasions throughout five rounds en route to a unanimous decision win and the interim 155 title. Adesanya went to war with Gastelum, and despite struggles at the start and getting rocked by Gastelum’s powerful punches, managed to pressure and control the American for at least three rounds en route to winning the interim 185 belt.

Poirier is next scheduled for a title unification bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov, while Adesanya will get his own against Robert Whittaker.

UFC 236 had an attendance of 14,297, resulting in a gate of just over $1.9 million.
