UFC 249 Live Results

It’s fight night!

Many thought those three words wouldn’t be uttered for a long time as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The combat sports world has been on hold since about March, with several postponements in play. Still, Dana White and the UFC have done their best to work around the pandemic and put on fights. After a few hiccups, UFC 249 is back up and running.

Taking place inside the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, UFC 249 will feature two huge title fights.

In the main event, Tony Ferguson will get another chance to become the interim UFC Lightweight Champion when he faces Justin Gaethje. Ferguson (25-3), who is on a 12-fight win streak, was supposed to face off against Khabib Nurmagomedov on April 18 in Brooklyn. Khabib, however, returned to Russia to quarantine, postponing a bout between the two for the fifth time. Gaethje was able to step up and take his spot. Gaethje (21-2) is on a three-fight win streak, last beating Donald Cerrone in September via TKO.

In the co-main event, Henry Cejudo will defend his UFC Bantamweight Title against Dominick Cruz. Cejudo (15-2) won the title against Marlon Moraes at UFC 238 back in June. A former UFC Flyweight Champion, Cruz is looking to secure his legacy against a former two-time Bantamweight Champion in Cruz. For the first time since 2016, Cruz (22-2) will be returning to the octagon. His last fight was a unanimous decision loss against Cody Garbrandt at UFC 207.

Can Cruz return to his former glory? Will Gaethje pull off an upset? The action begins at 6:30 p.m. ET.
