UFC 251 Weigh-In Results: Kamaru Usman Vs. Jorge Masvidal

After months of waiting with anticipation, “Fight Island” is finally here! The UFC heads to Yas Island in Abu Dhabi for the company’s first of four big events. UFC 251on July 11 will feature some of the top fighters in the world today as the UFC works through the coronavirus pandemic.

Today at 9 a.m. ET, the weigh-ins went live! The main event will be Kamaru Usman defending the UFC Welterweight Title against BMF Champion Jorge Masvidal. Usman (16-1) is on a fifteen-fight win streak dating back to 2013. He beat Tyron Woodley for the title at UFC 235 and defended it against Colby Covington at UFC 245 in December. Masvidal (35-13) last fought at UFC 244 in November, beating Nate Diaz via TKO for the BMF Title. He is currently on a three-fight win streak and is 6-2 in his last eight fights.

The two were rumored to fight in July since February. Masvidal ended up getting the shot on a week’s notice after Gilbert Burns tested positive for COVID-19.

The co-main event will be Alexander Volkanovski v. Max Holloway in a rematch for the UFC Featherweight Championship. Volkanovski (21-1), currently on an 18-fight win streak, beat Holloway (21-5) at UFC 245 in December to win the UFC Featherweight Championship.

Finally, Petr Yan will face former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo for the vacant UFC Bantamweight Title. Yan (14-1) is on a nine-fight win streak dating back to 2016. Aldo (28-6) is 2-4 in his last six fights and lost his bantamweight debut against Marlon Moraes. The title is vacant following the retirement of Henry Cejudo.
