UFC 268: Kamaru Usman Continues UFC Title Reign Against Colby Covington

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman got the better of challenger Colby Covington in their rematch at UFC 268 main event.

The welterweights went the distance, but Usman’s conditioning and clean striking earned him more points on judges’ scorecards. Covington seemed threatening and troubled the champion at times, but it was nothing that Usman could not handle.

Two judges scored the contest 48-47 for the welterweight king, while the third one gave Usman 49-46. This was Usman’s 15th consecutive win in the UFC and fifth title defense in a row.
Despite losing the title fight again, Covington has proved that he is the only fighter in the division who is closest to beating the Nigerian Nightmare. Usman has steamrolled through every challenger since taking the strap from Tyron Woodley, but only the Chaos has given him a tough time in the cage.

Nonetheless, both fighters showed respect for each other right after the fifth round concluded.

In the co-main event, Rose Namajunas beat Zhang Weili in the rematch to continue her dominance in the strawweight division. She won the rematch via split decision. One judge scored the contest 48-47 for Weili, the second scored 48-47 for Namajunas, while the third gave 49-46 to Thug Rose as well. This is the first time in the UFC that Weili has been beaten by the same fighter twice.

In the other super fight, Justin Gaethje defeated Michael Chandler by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).
Marlon Vera beat Frankie Edgar via third-round knockout, while Shanu Burgos defeated Billi Quarantillo via unanimous decision. Moreover, Alex Pereira beat Andreas Michailidis via second-round TKO and Bobby Green defeated Al Iaquinta via TKO in the first round.
