UFC 271 Date Revealed, Israel Adesanya Vs Robert Whittaker II Continue In Works

Israel Adesanya is most likely to defend his middleweight title against Robert Whittaker at UFC 271 that will take place on Super Bowl weekend on February 12.

The UFC was reportedly scheduling the title fight for UFC 270, but put it off due to a clash with Francis Ngannou vs Ciryl Gane fight in the main event.

The Last Stylebender beat Whittaker in 2019 to become the undisputed champion.

He beat Whittaker via knockout at UFC 243 in only his second year with the company. He has gone to defend his title thrice since then, beating Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori.

Overall, Adesanya is 1-1 in his last two fights after suffering his UFC career’s first loss to Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259.

He tried his shot to become a double champ, but the move backfired as Blachowicz’s ground game proved to be too much to handle for the Stylebender to win via decision.

On the flip side, Whittaker has been gathering momentum silently.

He avoids making big statements before media, unlike the middleweight champ. The Australian star has won three fights in a row since he lost the title to Adesanya.

The Reaper defeated top contenders like Darren Till, Jared Cannonier and Kelvin Gastelum.
