UFC 277 Medical Suspensions: Amanda Nunes, Julianna Pena Out Indefinitely
UFC 277 is now part of the history books and had many memorable bouts. There were 13 bouts in total in the event. In the main event, Amanda Nunes (22-5, 13 KOs) and Julianna Pena battled for five rounds before the Brazilian won through unanimous decision.
As a result, Nunes regained the women’s bantamweight championship that she lost to Pena at the end of last year. Apart from the Nunes-Pena fight, Brandon Moreno claimed the interim flyweight title after getting the better of Kai Kara-France by TKO in the third round. The match ended courtesy of a brilliant hard kick to the body by the Mexican.
Now, the medical suspensions regarding all the superstars have been updated. In the most notable suspensions, Nunes and Pena have received indefinite terms. However, Pena’s suspension (60 days) is longer than Nunes’ (45 days).
Anthony Smith, who was carried out of the ring after the TKO loss to Magomed Ankalaev, received a 30-day suspension. Later on, Smith told the media that he had suffered a broken ankle during the fight.
On the other hand, both Orion Cosce and Blood Diamond received a suspension of 10 days each. Similarly, Joselyne Edwards was suspended for 10 days whereas Ji Yeon Kim was suspended for 30 days (1 month).
