Questions remain as to whether or not the third matchup between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman for the UFC 286 main event will go ahead.

UFC 286 Bout Between Leon Edwards And Kamaru Usman Could Be In Doubt

Following a stunning upset, the UFC immediately sought to arrange a trilogy match between the newly crowned welterweight champion, Edwards, and the former title holder Usman.

The fight is predicted to be the main event at UFC 286 hosted in England, with Edwards expected to defend his title in front of a home audience at Wembley.

And yet, it seems that the potential headlining match between Edwards and Kamaru Usman might not take place after all. Ali Abdelaziz, Edwards’ manager, has denied reports that Usman is suffering from a hand injury requiring surgery, yet Usman was recently seen wearing a wrist bandage.

Usman happened to be present at the African event Face Off FN. That is where fans identified the ex-champion wearing a wrist brace, indicating the long-term consequences of a hand injury.

This injury had been a constant issue, with Usman having to undergo surgery for it in February. It is absolutely evident that there is still a lot of time left before the scheduled March 18th match between Usman and Edwards, which will give the former champion adequate time to fully recover.
