The flyweight championship bout between Brandon Moreno and Alexandre Pantoja is scheduled for UFC 290 on July 8th, 2023, from the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
Originally, Pantoja was slated to face Moreno for the championship in December 2021, but an injury proved otherwise.
As Moreno (21-6-2) and Pantoja (25-5) prepare to face off this summer, it’s not the inaugural encounter between these two.
In their initial encounter on The Ultimate Fighter Season 24, Moreno succumbed to Pantoja’s submission.
Their rematch occurred at UFC Fight Night 129 in 2018, where Pantoja emerged victorious once more via a unanimous decision.
Since that clash, the two have had much success. Moreno is now in his second term as the UFC flyweight champion after beating Deiveson Figueiredo.
Meanwhile, Pantoja has accumulated six victories since then. With that being said, an official announcement has been made.
ESPN MMA retweeted the announcement that the Moreno vs. Pantoja fight will be included in the UFC 290 lineup.
