Volkanovski (26-2), who is replacing Charles Oliveira in this main event, is making his second attempt at achieving double-champ status on just twelve days notice. Back in February at UFC 284 in Australia, the featherweight titleholder moved up in weight and went the distance with Makhachev (24-1) in an extremely competitive battle.
The judge’s decision went the way of Makhachev, but the exciting nature of how the fight went down set the stage for an epic rematch in the future. Now, the rematch is here, and the MMA community is buzzing with anticipation of another excellent display of top level combat.

Additionally, the co-main event competitors in Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev also made weight with no issues. Usman (20-3), a late replacement for Paulo Costa, is making his middleweight debut and will look to derail the hype train of the undefeated Chimaev (12-0).
It has been announced that the winner of this bout will likely get a shot at Sean Strickland’s 185-pound title.
