UFC 294 Update: Kamaru Usman to face Khamzat Chimaev

Earlier reports provided updates to the UFC 294 main event stating that Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski will rematch each other at UFC 294 after Charles Oliveira pulled out with an injury. Due to an injury and subsequent surgery to Paulo Costa, Dana White and the UFC were forced to make an additional change to the card as he was not medically cleared to fight.

Kamaru Usman (20 – 3), the #1 ranked welterweight, will be moving up to middleweight to take on Khamzat Chimaev, the #4 ranked middleweight. Khamzat was scheduled to move up in weight to face Costa, and with the Brazillian injured, Kamaru has agreed to make the move as well. Usman enters the fight following back-to-back losses to current welterweight champion Leon Edwards.
