The UFC has announced some further match-ups for its UFC 297 card set to take place on January 20th, 2024, from the Toronto Scotiabank Arena, Ontario.
The current UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland will headline the event against Dricus Du Plessis as the American makes the first defense of his title that he acquired by beating Israel Adesanya. Meanwhile, Du Plessis put himself in line for a title shot after stopping Robert Whittaker in the second round at UFC 290.
In chief support, Raquel Pennington faces Mayra Bueno Silva for the right to win the vacant bantamweight title. Pennington has five wins on the spin, which includes victories over Ketlen Vieira, Macy Chiasson, and Pannie Kianzad.
Meanwhile, Silva arrives into the fight following a failed test, which resulted in her win over Holly Holm being turned into a no contest. While Silva explained that the adverse finding was due to Ritalinic acid, which has been used for her ADHD medication, the fighter now has a lot to prove after having her back against the wall.
And with a total of nine new fights announced, MMA fans have plenty of action-packed fights lined up on the card below.
