UFC 300: Gaethje Will Defend BMF Title For The First Time In UFC History Against Holloway

Justin Gaethje will defend his BMF Title against Max Holloway at UFC 300 on April 13, 2024, in Las Vegas, the first time any fighter has done so in the history of the UFC.

Jorge Masvidal became the Inaugural BMF Title Holder after stopping Nate Diaz at UFC 244. Masvidal never had the chance to defend the belt, putting Gaethje into a part of history. The fight will be a five-rounder at lightweight after Gaethje secured the belt with a second-round stoppage of Dustin Poirer at UFC 291.

Before that, Gaethje secured a majority decision win over Rafael Fiziev, bouncing back from his loss to Charles Oliveira. The ex-featherweight champion Holloway has won his last two fights, beating Arnold Allen and the now-retired Korean Zombie. This is Holloway’s second fight at lightweight after coming up short against Poirier at UFC 236.

Elsewhere, Jim Miller faces Bobby Green in another UFC 300 fight. They had been on course to face each other on three occasions. In 2014, Green withdrew with an injury. A fight at UFC 258 also failed as Green passed out after making weight. Green then failed a drug test when a fight seemed likely for UFC 276. Both fighters enter the bout with contrasting fortunes. Miller beat Gabriel Benitez in his last fight, while Green was stopped by Jalin Turner, ending his two-fight-win streak.
