UFC 306: O’Malley Vs. Dvalishvili Prelim And Undercard Live Results: Valentina Shevchenko Regains Title Over Alexa Grasso

Tonight, Saturday, September 14th, Sean O’Malley is prepared to put his bantamweight title on the line versus No. 1 contender Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306. To add to the excitement, the card will be the first combat sports event to take place inside Sphere in Las Vegas.

Kicking off the action of UFC 306, aka Riyadh Season’s Noche UFC, the preliminary card will go live on UFC Fight Pass and ESPN+ starting at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT, and will feature 5 fights.

Following, at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT, the 5 fight PPV main card will begin, and O’Malley versus Dvalishvili won’t be the only title fight, as Alexa Grasso will attempt to defend her title versus Valentina Shevchenko at 125-pounds in the co-main event.

Co-Main Event: Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko – UFC Flyweight Championship

Tonight in Las Vegas, Valentina Shevchenko has regained her UFC flyweight title, and put a stamp on her rivalry with Alexa Grasso following a loss and their draw in 2023.

Despite finding herself in a couple of comprising grappling positions, in which there were moments where it seemed that Grasso would finish the fight, Shevchenko powered through the rough moments and found success all around. Her ability to escape the submission attempts and continuously find herself in dominant positions, by way of reversals and takedowns, provided exactly the kind of performance that sets champions apart from the rest of the pack.

Shevchenko did find herself in several situations in which she was close to finishing Grasso as well, constantly putting on the pressure with transitions followed by submission attempts. The attempts were not fight finishing but did provide a large amount of suspense.

The pair would go the distance, with Shevchenko being heavily favored in the decisive victory on the judges’ scorecards.

Brian Ortega vs. Diego Lopes – Featherweight

Prior to this 145-pound bout, many thought that the grappling experience in both corners could create for quite a close matchup. But, following an early set of punches that dropped Brian Ortega to the canvas, Diego Lopes set the pace for the match and did not let up for the duration. Ortega would recover and keep the fight competitive over 3 rounds, but by the end Lopes was the clear victor, and the judges’ saw it the same. With this victory, Lopes is now on a 5-fight win streak, and has established himself as a real contender for the UFC featherweight title.

Daniel Zellhuber vs. Esteban Ribovics – Lightweight

This 155-pound battle was an absolute war right until the end. Both parties landed heavy strikes in each round, but of course there can be only one winner. On this night, that winner was Esteban Ribovics over Daniel Zellhuber by way of unanimous judges’ decision. With this win, Ribovics now finds himself on a 3-fight win streak and will surely be looking at a jump in the rankings.

Ronaldo Rodríguez vs. Ode Osbourne – Flyweight

Despite finding himself stuck in an extremely tight triangle choke earlier in the fight, Ronald Rodriguez fought his way back to earn the decision in the eyes of the judges in this 125-pound matchup versus Ode Osbourne. Through this victory, Rodriguez’ added a 17th victory to his 19-fight career. Meanwhile, Osbourne suffered his 8th loss in 20 professional fights.
