UFC Auckland Attendance, Gate and Bonuses

UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Hunt was the first UFC event held in Auckland, New Zealand, in about three years. With a main event of native hero Mark Hunt vs. Derrick Lewis, 8,649 came out to the Spark Arena for a gate of $1,150,428 NZD ($829,644 USD).

The Fight of the Night bonus was awarded to the heavyweight main event. Thanks to a knee and a flurry of punches, Hunt was able to score the TKO victory over Derrick Lewis, snapping Lewis’ six-fight win streak. Lewis announced probable retirement following the bout.

Performance bonuses went out to flyweight Ben Nguyen and lightweight Dan Hooker. Nguyen choked out the winner of season 24 of The Ultimate Fighter and former flyweight title challenger, Tim Elliott. Hooker, meanwhile, scored a big victory when he delivered a hard knee that knocked out Ross Pearson in the second round of their bout.

All four will receive a $50,000 bonus to their fight purse.
