UFC Bantamweight Sean O’Malley Calls Out Lightweight Ryan Garcia

Neither of the two have an official upcoming fight.

Sean O’Malley wants to start boxing.

The UFC bantamweight contender is waiting on a title shot that President Dana White said would happen, but if it doesn’t, O’Malley said that he’s okay with that because it’ll come eventually – and he can do something else in the meantime.

He would want to face lightweight contender Ryan Garcia in a boxing match.

“I’d f–king love to box one of these days,” O’Malley said on the Impaulsive podcast.

“…We [O’Malley and Garcia] gotta keep doing our thing, we got to both keep winning and become big enough to where the UFC, because the UFC, they’re about money. So if there’s an opportunity, five or six years down the line, I’m the f–king man, there’s another f–king man in boxing, UFC would be down.”

O’Malley is coming off of a big win against former champion Petr Yan by split decision at UFC 280. White had previously said that the winner of that bout would get a chance to challenge division champion Aljamain Sterling for the strap.

Meanwhile, Garcia hasn’t fought since knocking Javier Fortuna in July. Since then, he’s been in deep talks to take on rival Gervonta Davis – a fight that his promoter Oscar De La Hoya said is nearing completion.

It’s unclear when a possible bout between O’Malley and Garcia would happen.
