UFC BJJ has announced the launch of UFC BJJ Opens, a new series of tournaments open to competitors of all ages and skill levels, with the first event scheduled for Saturday, August 22 in Las Vegas.
Four Opens are planned for 2026, with more to follow in 2027. The series is designed to create a pathway from local level through to UFC BJJ events. Advanced divisions will give competitors the opportunity to earn attention from the UFC BJJ organisation, though participation does not guarantee a contract. The Opens will operate under an adjusted ruleset compared to traditional tournament formats to prepare competitors for the style of competition seen at UFC BJJ events, more of which can be found out here.
“Our goal is to build a system and create opportunities where competitors can start locally, develop through real competition experience, and ultimately see a path toward the highest level of professional grappling at UFC BJJ,” Claudia Gadelha (UFC BJJ Senior Director of Jiu-Jitsu Strategy)
