UFC Cuts Ties With Eight More Fighters
The UFC has decided to part ways with eight more fighters.
Oftentimes, the UFC is on the hunt for talent. Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the promotion has been able to sign talent globally. With more signees, however, also comes more roster cuts. Eight fighters have been on the wrong end of that cycle.
MMAJunkie.com brought word of the releases. Find out who those eight fighters are below.
Recent UFC Releases
Aleksandra Albu (3-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC)
Ali Alqaisi (8-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC)
Cyril Asker (9-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC)
Alex Chambers (5-5 MMA, 1-4 UFC)
Chris De La Rocha (5-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC)
Syuri Kondo (6-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC)
Bojan Mihajlovic (10-6 MMA, 0-3 UFC)
Suman Mokhtarian (8-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC)
Perhaps the least surprising name on that list is Syuri Kondo. That’s because Kondo has made a smooth transition to the world of pro wrestling over in Japan. She wrestles for World Wonder Ring Stardom, where she is the SWA World Champion. Kondo’s last UFC bout took place on June 22, 2019.
The releases of Alex Chambers, Cyril Asker, Chris De La Rocha, Bojan Mihajlovic, and Suman Mokhtarian could have boiled down to inactivity. Chambers, Asker, and De La Rocha haven’t competed since 2018. It goes even further back for Mihajlovic and Mokhtarian, who haven’t seen action since 2017.
