UFC Fight Night 205 Sells Out Columbus, Ohio Event
UFC returned to Columbus, Ohio with a sold-out crowd.
The gate for the event was more than $1.9 million, according to the UFC.
The headlining of the event was a heavyweight clash between Curtis Blaydes and Chris Daukaus, where Blaydes earned a second-round KO victory.
The only local fighter on the card was Matt Brown, who held a very close fight and suffered a split decision loss against Bryan Barberena. The 41-year-old fighter earned a $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus, but he also earned lots of respect for showing such a heart.
“My scores have improved over time, actually, which is crazy, you know”? Brown said.
“So as long as my brain’s still intact, I can just keep going.”
Kai Kara-France was one of the biggest stars on the card. He earned the victory as a considerable underdog against undefeated Askar Askarov.
Kara-France served the first-ever loss to the Russian fighter by having excellent second and third rounds.
In the first round, Askarov dominated, but Kara-France managed to hold great rounds after being dominated in the first.
Division champion Deiveson Figueiredo said he is willing to fight Kara-France instead of having the fourth battle against Brendon Moreno.
