UFC Fight Night 212: Alexa Grasso Extends Winning Streak With Decision Win Vs. Viviane Araujo
The UFC Fight Night 212 results are in.
Alexa Grasso defeated Viviane Araujo in the UFC Vegas 62 main event on Saturday to earn her fourth consecutive victory.
Grasso may reach the top three in the women’s flyweight class this week with her fourth straight victory.
The next matchup should be between Manon Fiorot, who won the No. 1 ranking, and Katlyn Chookagian, who will square off at UFC 280 the following week. The victor of this fight should be given the opportunity to defend their title against Valentina Shevchenko, the division champion, as both Chookagian and Fiorot are on a four-bout winning streak inside the Octagon.
Jonathan Martinez defeated Cub Swanson in the co-main event of the evening with a vicious leg kick.
Martinez earned his fourth straight victory with a decisive stoppage victory against seasoned veteran Cub Swanson.
One of the victories came at featherweight, while the other three were in bantamweight. Martinez is on the verge of making the Top 15.
To some, a meeting versus Assuncao would seem like an unusual choice. Assuncao has a longstanding reputation as one of the top 135-pound boxers in the sport. Still, he hasn’t quite lived up to the expectations of many, which included a title fight and maybe even winning a championship.
He did go through a bad patch over the past two years after suffering four straight defeats, but he was able to turn things around with a decisive victory over Victor Henry Friday night in “Sin City.”
If Martinez can win, Assuncao, who has competed against the best in the division, will look good on his CV.
Tudovoric defeated Jordan Wright through a technical knockout in the second round to get back on the winning side.
Tudovoric is still only 2-3 over his previous five fights. The next battle should be against Kopylov since, like Tudovoric, the Russian-born athlete has had trouble scoring victories.
Although he had just defeated Alessio Di Chirico, it was his first Octagon victory in three tries.
Alonzo Menifield defeated Misha Cirkunov in a brutal first-round knockout victory in a subsequent action to earn his second straight victory, bringing his recent record to 4-1.
Next, at UFC 283, fans can look forward to a battle with the victor of Johnny Walker vs. Paul Craig. Menifield is not included in the Top 15, whereas Walker is placed No. 11.
In Walker’s previous three appearances, he has gone 1-2 and is only 2-4 since 2019. He just ended a two-fight losing streak by defeating Ion Cutelaba at UFC 279. This prevented him from furthering his demise.
Menifield is getting closer to the Top 15; a victory against Walker or Craig, who had a four-fight winning run halted in his most recent contest, may make the difference.
