UFC Fight Night: Derek Brunson Dominates Darren Till, Extends Winning Streak

Derek Brunson was considered an underdog, but he beat the odds again on Saturday.

Brunson (23-7) defeated Darren Till (18-4-1) via submission minutes into the final round. The two middleweight fighters headlined the event in Las Vegas.

The event started at 4 p.m. eastern time, which is earlier than usual, because European MMA fans had the opportunity of watching a number of English fighters.

In the first round, it took only one takedown for Brunson to damage Till’s eye significantly, and they easily took the round with the scorecard of 10-8.

In the second round, Till showed takedown defense, but the third attempt was fatal for him.

He landed a huge left hand, and Brunson was hurt. Immediately, Brunson went for a takedown, but it was not perfect.
Brunson took Till down and took a position called Top Mount.

He landed huge punches, and Till had no choice but to give his back to Brunson. After that, Brunson easily finished him via submission rear-naked choke.

It looks like Brunson, the No. 5 ranked middleweight, is climbing to the top as he remains undefeated.

One day, we might witness a rematch between him and current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Another prospect from England, Tom Aspinall, added another first-round KO to his resume. He defeated another talented prospect from Moldova, Sergey Spivak, who earned two victories in 2021.

Aspinall is moving like a middleweight and hits like a heavyweight; he can land knees, punches he knows Brazilian jiu-jitsu and now he showed that he has deadly elbows in his arsenal.

Four former Cage Warriors champions were participating on this card.

Modestas Bukauskas, Paddy Pimblett, Molly McCann and Jack Shore. They are from Europe too.

One of them, Bukauskas, was defeated three times in a row, and he might be cut from the promotion.

Pimblett had an electric UFC debut. The start was not how he planned, a huge left hook dropped him, but he managed to come back. He faked flying knee and landed a huge right hand.

McCann defeated Ji Yeon Kim with an awe-inspiring performance.

Shore was supposed to fight against Georgian fighter and former LFA champion Zviad Lazishvili, but he was out due to injury. Solonian took this fight on short notice and battled against the former CW champion.
Shore remains undefeated with a professional record of 15-0 and an amateur record of 12-0.
