UFC Vegas 58: Rafael Fiziev Takes Rafael dos Anjos Out Late In Main Event

Rafael Fiziev achieved what only three people have been able to do.

Fiziev earned a fifth-round knockout victory over Rafael dos Anjos in main event of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night.

Dos Anjos seemed to have the edge on the young contender after the fourth round where he landed a flying knee and knocked his opponent down.

But Fiziev came back and dropped RDA with a huge punch and two follow-up shots on the ground. Referee Mark Smith called the bout off at 0:18 of the fifth round.

Fiziev will most likely move up to the No. 7 position from the No. 10 and replace RDA.

After the win, Fiziev said he wanted to fight with Justin Gaethje next. Gaethje just suffered a second loss for the undisputed title fight.

Caio Borralho and Armen Petrosyan held a classic stylistic fight in the co-main event.

Petrosyan is one of the most dangerous in the division, and he was throwing brutal kicks until the last second of the third round, but it was not enough.

Petrosyan could not defend himself from the takedowns. Borralho left no chances for his opponent on the ground and earned a unanimous decision victory.

Said Nurmagomedov and D. Silva de Andrade held a war inside the octagon.

De Andrade did his best, but still not enough to defeat the Russian fighter. Nurmagomedov was using more combinations and strikes. He damaged his rival with lots of spinning kicks.

De Andrade was throwing punches, looking for a knockout. After a war, several stuns, and knockdowns, Nurmagomedov earned the unanimous decision victory.
