UFC Fight Night Results: Holloway Uses Volume & Pressure To secure Victory Over Allen
Tonight in Kansas City, Max Holloway once again displayed why he is considered one of the best to ever compete in the UFC’s featherweight division.
Throughout the course of his 5-round main event battle with Arnold Allen this evening at the T-Mobile Center, Holloway mixed evasive head movement, calculated footwork, and octagon IQ to out land his opponent by 71 strikes (147-76).
Additionally, Holloway showed supreme effectiveness with the dynamic striking that he has become known for, finding many different angles to land his punches, and using those punches to set up shattering round house kicks to the body on multiple occasions.

While Holloway won by a considerable margin on two of the judges scorecards, and inflicted the most damage in the fight as he almost doubled his opponent in strikes landed, Allen did find moments of success of his own. He was able to take advantage of Holloway’s style, which relies heavily on defensive movements and less on using his guard to block, and land some ruthlessly fast looping overland punches that had a very noteworthy amount of power behind them.
Despite Allen landing multiple power shots that would no doubt drop many fighters, Holloway continued to march forward with volume and pressure, which ultimately lead to him earning the unanimous decision victory.
In the final seconds of the fight, Allen left everything out there and stood toe-to-toe with Holloway while attempting to throw some finishing shots. He was able to land a nasty knee to the body with a well-placed elbow right behind it, but Holloway fired back, landing four punches in succession which dropped Allen to the canvas right as the match time expired.

Through this high level affair, Holloway’s record improved to 24-7, while Allen suffered the first lost in his UFC career, and second loss overall in his 21 fights in MMA.
