Former UFC fighter Diego Sanchez, 44, was arrested Monday in Socorro County, New Mexico, on charges of aggravated DWI and violating the terms of his probation, according to jail records.
Sanchez was accused of driving with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.16. He was being held without bond following the arrest.
The arrest comes months after Sanchez received five years of supervised probation stemming from a 2025 incident in which he fired a gun from a moving vehicle. He pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree felony charge, while another weapons charge was dismissed.
As part of his probation, Sanchez was reportedly required to abstain from alcohol.
Sanchez rose to prominence after winning Season 1 of âThe Ultimate Fighterâ and went on to make 32 UFC appearances between 2005 and 2020.
His 2009 fight with Clay Guida was later inducted into the UFC Hall of Fameâs Fight Wing.
After leaving the UFC, Sanchez competed once in BKFC in 2023, losing to former boxing world champion Austin Trout.
