UFC Hall of Famer Jose Aldo Targets Boxing Match in 2027

Jose Aldo (32-10) says there is a strong chance he returns to boxing in 2027, though he believes he still has three fights remaining on his UFC contract and would need permission from the promotion.

“I even messaged Dana [White]. If there’s an opportunity, I’ll go after Hunter [Campbell], Mick [Maynard], and ask for permission. Even before, when I stopped, Dana himself had told me that if there was any [boxing] offer, they would let me do it, no problem,” Aldo said.

Aldo came close to competing at a Spaten Fight Night event earlier this year, but talks did not come together because the promotion needed a quick commitment while Aldo was on vacation.

Spaten officials later approached Aldo again about potentially competing on a future event, with Aldo saying there is a “high chance” he returns to the boxing ring in 2027.

Aldo currently holds a 2-0-1 professional boxing record. No opponent has been signed, though he has expressed interest in potential fights with former UFC rivals Chad Mendes and Urijah Faber, as well as Anthony Pettis.

“Boxing is much more possible for us to do, because I know I’m going to make a lot more money. That’s what matters. If an opportunity comes up, I say, ‘For me to fight, it’s this much.’ If you don’t want it, I don’t care,” Aldo said.

Aldo said any return would ultimately depend on the financial offer and receiving clearance from the UFC.
