UFC Heading to Long Island in July

Last year, the sport of mixed-martial-arts took a huge step forward when it was legalized in the state of New York. Since then, the UFC has committed to putting on a number of shows in the state, and will be coming back this summer with a date set for Long Island.

On Friday it was announced that the UFC will be coming to the new Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York on July 22.

“The Coliseum has a storied history of hosting major sporting events and is the perfect stage for Long Island’s first UFC event,” Brett Yormark, CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, said in a statement Friday, per Newsday. “We had a great turnout in Brooklyn for our inaugural card, and look forward to continuing the momentum at the Coliseum on July 22.”

The Long Island event will air on FOX and tickets will go on sale June 2. It will mark the fifth stop in New York for the UFC since the sport was legalized in NY last year.

No fights have been announced for the card yet.
