UFC Heavyweight Sentenced To 22 Months In Jail

A UFC heavyweight will be in jail for a little while.

Ben Sosoli has been sentenced to 22 months in jail due to a September 2019 incident in Jacksons Lounge Bar in Toorak according to Yahoo! News. Sosoli worked as a bouncer for the lounge. When one bar patron kept attempting to sneak in the lounge, Sosoli punched him in the jaw outside. The patron required specialist facial surgery.

Sosoli claimed that the patron threatened him. Judge Gavan Meredith reminded Sosoli of the following.

“You are expected not to respond to provocation in the way you did.”

Sosoli will not be eligible for parole until he has spent at least 11 months in jail. His UFC contract has been “canceled.”

After being a part of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, Sosoli earned a UFC contract. He initially dropped a unanimous decision to Greg Hardy but the result was overturned as Hardy used an inhaler in between rounds. Sosoli followed that up with a first-round TKO loss to Marcos Rogerio de Lima.
