UFC Jacksonville: Attendance, Gate, Bonuses
Just like at UFC 249, there were no fans inside the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida on May 13. As a result, there was no gate. What the event did have, however, was another night of solid fights.
The main event of UFC on ESPN+ 29 was Glover Teixeira dominating Anthony Smith. The 40-year-old won the fight in the fifth via TKO, controlling the bout from the third round on. Teixeira (31-7) knocked the teeth out of Smith’s mouth, and landed 202 strikes (138 significant strikes), earning his fourth win in a row. As a result, Teixeira ended up getting part of the Performance of the Night bonus.
The other half of the POTN bonus went to Drew Dober. Dober (23-9, 1NC) ended up taking out Alexander Hernandez in an important scrap. The 31-year-old used his swift strikes to knock the prospect in Hernandez off of his feet several times. In the end, he won via TKO in the second, landing a plethora of shots that Hernandez couldn’t block. Dober won his third fight in a row and is now 6-1 in his last seven fights.

As far as Fight of the Night went, we have to go back to the beginning of the night. The second fight on the ESPN+ prelims, Brian Kelleher and Hunter Azure put on quite a show. The two would hit shots that could be heard from anywhere around the world. In the end, Kelleher lived by his nickname and hit Azure with a “boom” shot to the face.
