UFC Lightweight Vet Diego Ferreira Inks Five More Fights
The current No. 12 contender of the lightweight division will fight for the third time this year.
Diego Ferreira will be back in the octagon this Saturday at UFC Vegas 45. On the very last UFC show of 2021, the Brazilian will meet rising contender Mateusz Gamrot, who has won over Scott Holtzman and Jeremy Stephens, the latter with a nasty kimura choke in July.
Before the main event, MMA News’ James Lynch chatted with Ferreira where he provided an update on his contract with the UFC. He said he signed a new contract.
“(I) just signed (for) five more. Yeah, just re-signed my contract, I think I have five more if I’m not wrong,” he said.
“I just talked to coach Sayif (Saud) to see, but I already re-signed again, five more fights… (it feels) super. It feels, I gotta say, it feels like they really watch out for me, and now I just need to go over there and impress.”
The Brazilian fighter will try to stop his two losing streaks.
He first lost against the No. 3 ranked contender Beneil Dariush and most recently lost to Gregor Gillespie via TKO.
After suffering a knockout loss against Dustin Poirier in 2015, Ferreira earned six victories in a row. However, after defeating former champion Anthony Pettis via submission, he suffered another two losses in a row.
