UFC Norfolk Live Results
The moment has finally arrived for the flyweights to get their moment of glory. Inside the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, Joseph Benavidez will face off against Deiveson Figueiredo for the vacant UFC Flyweight Championship.
This is a long time coming for Benavidez (28-5), who is on a three-fight win streak, beating Jussier Formiga back in June via TKO. This will be his fourth time fighting for a world title, and his third for the UFC Flyweight Championship. He lost to Demetrious Johnson twice, once to crown the first champion. Benavidez has won nine of his last ten fights.
It is a must-win fight for Benavidez, as only he can win the title. Deiveson Figueiredo (17-1) missed weight by 2.5 pounds and is ineligible to claim the belt with a win. The 32-year-old is on a two-fight win streak, beating Tim Elliot back in October via submission. While he won’t win anything, it will not stop Figueiredo from making a moment for himself.
What would happen with a Figueiredo win? Would Henry Cejudo, the initial champion who relinquished his belt, go back to being champion?
