UFC On ESPN 15: Fight Night Bonuses

There were no fans in Las Vegas on August 22 for UFC on ESPN 15. As a result, there was no gate for the event inside the UFC APEX Center.

Returning to Las Vegas, two fighters earned “Performance of the Night”, while the main event earned the “Fight of the Night” bonus.

Frankie Edgar beat Pedro Munhoz via split decision in the main event. The former UFC Lightweight Champion made the move to bantamweight, and while it took a while to compete in it, he made the most of his opportunity. Munhoz would attack the leg of Edgar throughout the contest, but Edgar would always answer back with fast shots. When it felt like Edgar was limping, he would reach forward and land volume combinations.

In total, Munhoz landed 122 strikes while Edgar landed 127. Edgar’s two-fight losing streak is snapped as he looks to dominate a new division.

Part of the “Performance of the Night” bonus went to Shana Dobson, who ended a three-fight losing streak. Competing in her second fight in 2020, Dobson (4-4) would take out 23-year-old standout Mariya Agapova via TKO in the second round. The loss would end Agapova’s three-fight win streak.

The other “Performance of the Night” bonus went to Trevin Jones, who opened fight night with a TKO win against Timur Valiev. Jones (13-6) won his UFC debut and is now on a three-fight win streak. Valiev (16-3), who was also making his UFC debut, had his six-fight win streak snapped.
