UFC On ESPN 9 Live Results: Woodley Vs. Burns

A new contender for the UFC Welterweight Title could be determined today, May 30, as the UFC returns to action. Thanks to the Nevada Athletic Commission, the promotion is back in Las Vegas, Nevada for UFC on ESPN 9. The event will take place inside the UFC’s APEX Center.

The main event will feature the return of Tyron Woodley as he takes on Gilbert Burns. After winning the UFC Welterweight Title in 2016, Woodley (19-4-1) lost the belt in his last fight against Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 in March 2019. He was supposed to fight twice since then: a hand injury forced him out of a bout with Robbie Lawler and the coronavirus postponed a bout with Leon Edwards. “The Chosen One” is looking to show a new version of himself, one that is ready to hold gold once again.

Burns (18-3) is on a five-fight win streak dating back to the end of 2018. His last bout was a TKO-win against Demian Maia back in March. He is ranked sixth in the UFC’s welterweight rankings, and could shoot up the rankings with a win over a former champion.

Prelims for the event start at about 6 p.m. ET. The main card begins at 9 p.m. ET. FIGHT SPORTS brings you live coverage of UFC on ESPN 9!
