UFC on FOX Sets Kansas City Record

The 24th edition of UFC on FOX, which took place at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri, is now the highest grossing sports event in the city’s history.

Forbes reports that a total of 12,171 people attended the event for a gate of $1,081,193.

The performance bonuses of the night went to UFC flyweight champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson and Robert Whittaker.

Johnson defeated Wilson Reis to retain his UFC flyweight title for a 10th consecutive time, tying him with Anderson Silva for most consecutive UFC title defenses in the promotion’s history. This is Johnson’s seventh Performance of the Night bonus, and he earned it by out-striking Reis 108-16.

Whittaker, meanwhile, earned his bonus from a huge TKO win over Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza. This was the first time Souza was finished by KO or TKO since 2008.

Tim Elliott and Louis Smolka, who kicked off the FOX preliminary card, earned the Fight of the Night bonus.
