UFC Releases Aspen Ladd After Recent Weight Miss
American professional MMA fighter Aspen Ladd has been released from the UFC.
The 27-year-old hasn’t been seen in the octagon ever since her fight against Raquel Pennington in April.
At UFC 273, it was Pennington who turned the tables on her opponent. This loss was just the second in Ladd’s career, who also came out second-best to Norma Dumont up at 145-pounds.
The 27-year-old was scheduled to lock horns against Sara McMann earlier this month at UFC Vegas 60. However, the fight was abandoned as Ladd missed weight by two pounds.
As a result, McMann also refused to fight the California native. This was the third in her career that Ladd had missed weight.
Although there is no reason given by the UFC yet, it has been reported by multiple news agencies that Ladd was released due to her problems with her weight.
Apart from missing weight thrice in her career, the California native has trembled on the scale previously. The 2019 knockout loss to Germaine de Randamie is the most recent example.
As a result of her weight problems, the California Athletic Commission has told the 27-year-old to move up. However, Ladd has only fought once above 145-pounds in her career. She lost to Dumont after missing weight in her previous bout against Macy Chiasson.
